Brassicas are an essential pillar to our food plot strategy. Each year we plant many acres of them along with cereal grains, clover, soybeans and corn. We're constantly learning and adjusting, but over the years we have arrived at a seed mix and planting process that has worked very well.
We plant the same mix two different times, a late July planting and a mid August planting. Brassicas planted in late July have more chance to grow huge greens with massive bulbs. We have found that this type of planting is best if you want a great late season food source. Planting them later in August will result in smaller plants that are more preferred early in the season.
